NN1379 : Tunnel under the Caledonian Canal

taken 34 years ago, near to Torcastle, Highland, Scotland

Tunnel under the Caledonian Canal
Tunnel under the Caledonian Canal
Amongst the problems faced when building the canal was the many sidestreams crossing the line of the canal, especially when in spate. Here a three arch culvert & tunnel carries the Allt Sheangain which flows into the River Lochy & a road giving access to the ancient Tor Castle & farmland and fishing
adjoining the River.
