Enjoying the floods, Sedan Avenue, Omagh
Pictured in the days when it wasn't an issue to feature youngsters, but I think that these "50 year-olds" belonged to a different era. The entrance to the showgrounds was here and the building known as "The Pavilion" was to the left of it. I remember going to a flying display by the army in 1968 H4572 : Flying display, Sedan Avenue, Omagh and attending one of the annual Omagh Shows in 1971 H4572 : Oops!
What is of historical interest are the selection of shops along Sedan Avenue, that are long since gone, but possibly if a local can fill me in here, I would be grateful. I think there was a sweet shop and a hairdressers on the left, and to the right and round the corner there was Coyles Calorgas Store and there may have been a bicycle shop owned by a wee man called Jimmy McCrory?
P.S. Note the Duffle coat - Link
