'Sea Energy' at Belfast
The specialist ship 'Sea Energy' (see also Link
) turning in the Musgrave Channel in Belfast docks, just in front of the Harland and Wolff building dock (note the cranes on the left of picture – see Link
).
This is an offshore construction vessel and is being used in the construction of an offshore wind farm at Robin Rigg in the Solway Firth. The vessel is transporting shafts and turbine blades from Belfast to Robin Rigg – these can be seen onboard. I believe that, once there, these sections are transferred onto other vessels at the site and are then assembled. The bases for the turbines were also shipped from Belfast and have now been completely installed at Robin Rigg by the specialist vessel ‘Resolution’ – see Link
.

This picture was taken facing south on a bright, hazy, late March afternoon, hence the silhouette effect against the setting sun.
