This arts centre is located in William Street, on the site of the old markets in the town centre, just off the High Street. MCAC contains two purpose-built gallery spaces providing a platform for showcasing contemporary works by local, national and international artists and has been described as one of Northern Ireland's leading art spaces. Gallery 1 has retained the original market trussed roofing structure. With high ceilings and reserve of natural light it is ideal for large-scale two and three-dimensional works.
Gallery 2 provides a more intimate space for smaller artworks. This exhibition area has a controlled lighting system ideal for multi-media, digital, video and light-sensitive exhibitions.
