J3372 : Former Methodist church, Belfast (4)
taken 15 years ago, near to Belfast, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland
The former (listed) Methodist church, at the Bradbury Place end of the University Road, was built circa 1865 to a design by WJ Barre. It currently (July 2014) carries an estate agent’s sign offering it for sale as “a unique” development opportunity”. The agents’ brochure includes this: “There are also a number of historic planning approvals which have since lapsed, the most recent of which is: Z/2007/0567/F (Approved 21/7/2008) “Change of use from church to office use including rear extension, demolition of adjoining buildings and replacement with 26 studio apartments and underground parking”. All interested parties are advised to make their own enquiries to the Planning Service”.
The following is the current application for planning permission “Z/2014/1562/LBC 20/11/2014 Change of use from place of worship (deconsecrated) sui generis, to public house (sui generis). Internal works and alterations.”
The photographs submitted by me appear as a matter of geographical and historical record only. I have no connection with any of the parties involved in the sale.
