Sir George Gilbert Scott's Midland Grand Hotel looks magnificent since recent restoration work has brought it back to its original splendour. No longer an hotel the building has been renamed St Pancras Chambers and hosts regular art shows and events, with a first floor cafe open at weekends.
The modern building on the left is the British Library.
2021: I see from the recreation of this shot
TQ3082 : St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel that the hotel has been reborn in the intervening years (and there is less traffic on a Bank Holiday Monday than I saw on a Sunday evening). I also note, from streetview, that O'Neill's pub, which I was visiting that evening, is still occupying the same building - I wonder if it will survive the coronavirus pandemic.
