Timoleague and Courtmacsherry Light Railway
Timoleague and Courtmacsherry Light Railway
The railway followed the shoreline from Timoleague to Courtmacsherry. It opened in 1891 providing summer excursions and transporting winter sugar beet from the farms on the Barryroe peninsula. The line closed in January 1962 at the end of another busy sugar beet season. The railway was connected with the Clonakilty Line at Ballinscarthy Junction.
