Yellow water lilies on the Broadwater, Soldierstown near Moira

The yellow water lily can be found in slow rivers and lakes – the former being a prefect description of the Broadwater J1463 : The Broadwater and towpath near Soldierstown here at Soldierstown. The river is shallow allowing the leaves and flowers to float on the water with the roots in the mud below. At a guess, somewhere between a half and three quarters of the surface was covered by the plant (now coming into flower).
