Mallow Station
Mallow Station
The station is on the Great Southern & Western Railway's main line where the route from Dublin diverges to Cork and Killarney. The sign shows the old Irish form of the town's name Magh Ealla ("Swan Meadow", a romantic false etymology now corrected to the more prosaic Mala "eyebrow"), and on the down platform can be seen the historic engine no 90 built at Inchicore works in 1875.
