Q7009 : Watertower at Castlegregory Junction

near to Killelton and Camp, Kerry, Ireland

Watertower at Castlegregory Junction
Watertower at Castlegregory Junction
This watertower stands by the side of the N86 road, and would have been built by the Tralee and Dingle Light Railway LinkExternal link to allow locomotives to fill their water tanks before they started the climb to Glenagalt where it crossed the Slieve Mish Mountains.
It has a plaque on to commemorate the railway, but its present use cannot be seen. The silver painted hut by the side looks as though it was modelled on a narrow gauge van from the T&DLR, does anyone know ?
