Dung Lough
This small sheltered lake on the edge of Cootehill lies in a natural basin fed by streams running off gentle grassy slopes, which on a calm day are mirrored in the water. The lake extends to some 10 acres (about 4 hectares) and is a quiet haven for both birds and fish: pike and swans are present, and numerous wildfowl visit including an occasional black swan.
