S2930 : Looking south from Slievenamon
3 km from Bawndunhill, Tipperary, Ireland

Looking south from Slievenamon
Sandstone blocks litter the summit of Slievenamon. The Suir valley below is on Carboniferous Limestone, with the Old Red Sandstone ridge of the Commeragh Mountains rising in the distance. This view epitomises much of southern Ireland, with limestone nearly always forming the low ground and the high ground formed of other, insoluble, rock types.
