Manx Electric Railway car No 5 was built in 1894, one of six similar cars numbered 4 to 9, of which two (Nos. 4 and 8) were destroyed, along with other cars, in a fire at Laxey Depot in 1930. Of the four remaining 1894 cars, No 5 is the only one to have transverse upholstered seating.
