The location of this castle is just north of the R438 and equi-distant between Portumna and Birr. This tower house with its stepped gables (a later modification) lies within a pentagonal bawn having an arched gateway entrance. The castle belonged to Brian O'Kennedy who died in 1588, and was confiscated by Cromwell in 1653.
