Castles of Munster: O'Brien's, Clare
Near nowhere in particular, this castle on a farm lies just to the north of O'Briens Lough some distance to the NE of Ennis, and said to have been built by Turlough, Bishop of Killaloe c.1460-80. Its comparatively complete condition has been attributed to the thatched roof that was in place right up to the early C20.
