Luas, the Irish word for speed, is the state of the art light rail (tram) system, which serves some parts of Dublin and its western and southern suburbs. The Red Cow stop, is on the Red Line, which opened in September 2004. Here there is a large park and ride site, and nearby is the depot for the Red Line. Currently all of the system's trams are of the Citadis design, from the French manufacturer Alstom. This particular example has been extended, by the fitting of two extra central sections, to make it a five section vehicle.
