View westward, towards Liverpool, Farington Curve Junction and Preston, with the Shed on the right, the Station being behind. LMS 3F 0-6-0T No. 47360 and (earlier, ex-Midland) No. 47211 built 8/1899, withdrawn 11/64) are in the foreground, with another ex-Midland one (No. 47201 (built 6/1901, withdrawn 12/66), behind; No. 47360 (built 1926) was already withdrawn from service in 7/63. Lostock Hall Depot (coded 24C) had an allocation of 40 locomotives in 1954:- 9 0-6-0, 11 2-6-4T, 2 2-4-2T, 3 0-6-0T and 15 ex-War Department 2-8-0s, and it was one of the very last depots to retain steam locomotives - until August 1968.
