ST1972 : Bascule bridge in Cardiff bay barrage

taken 13 years ago, near to Penarth, The Vale of Glamorgan/Bro Morgannwg, Wales

Bascule bridge in Cardiff bay barrage
Bascule bridge in Cardiff bay barrage
One of the three movable bridges in the closed state, taken while waiting for the adjacent bridge to close after a few boats had passed through into the lock. Why is it that the worst rain always hits when you're waiting for an operating bascule bridge to close?
Although not 'ancient and historic' yet, the barrage is registered in the Coflein database LinkExternal link.
