Athassel Abbey, near Lagganstown
Athassel Abbey, near Lagganstown
The abbey, or priory, was the biggest medieval priory in Ireland. Although ruinous, the buildings are remarkably complete. Although open to the public, parking is very difficult and the approach ground is marshy. As a result the place seems half-forgotten, and not even mentioned in many guide books.
