View over Warwick to Leamington
This is the 2011 equivalent of a 1986 Domesday photo: D-block GB-428000-264000/picture/1. The viewpoint is the tower of St Mary's Church.
In the lower right corner of the Domesday photo is a block of flats in the St John's Court development; in the 2011 photo it is halfway up the right-hand edge. In the foreground are several buildings that are part of King's High School for Girls, arranged on each side of Chapel Street. The line of Priory Road is just beyond it running down to St John's. In both photos Coten End can be seen, on the right here, continuing east as Emscote Road. The grey-roofed building is a branch of Homebase which in 1986 had only just been converted from a plastics factory into a branch of Do It All DIY. The line of trees above centre follows the railway. The long low building top centre is a branch of Jewson's, the builders merchant, just in Leamington. Above it is the tower of St Mark's Church, Rugby Road. On the skyline to the right is Eden Court, built as a block of council flats and visible for miles.
