St Mary's church, Whaddon
This modest little church has in the main just a farmhouse for company in its rural isolation close to the Avon, yet is barely 2 miles away from the town centre of Melksham. It has been here for at least 800 years, and houses the Long family vault, which has had its entrance bricked over in recent times to avoid the attention of vandals. The nave has been extensively restored, and the chancel and bellcote were rebuilt in 1879.
