Quoting from a Translink press release: “Construction work is underway in South Belfast as part of a Translink NI Railway’s project to develop a new train maintenance facility for its 20 new state-of-the-art trains.
Existing train cleaning and maintenance facilities based at York Road and the Fortwilliam area of North Belfast are currently operating at or near to full capacity. This new facility will provide engineering and workshops, a train wash, fuelling and train stabilizing facilities for the new fleet of Class 4000 trains.
The maintenance depot will be built at Translink’s Adelaide Depot off Boucher Road in South Belfast and Translink Infrastructure Executive, Clive Bradberry, says that its construction reflects a massive increase in demand for rail services”.
