The Straddle, Sheffield Canal Basin
The Straddle, Sheffield Canal Basin
The Straddle is a former warehouse built across the terminus of the Sheffield & Tinsley Canal in the centre of Sheffield. There are five numbered loading bays, although number 1 is now impassable due to a building extension. The Straddle was built in the 1890s to supplement the terminal warehouse (built 1819) just a couple of boat lengths behind it. The building is now used for office accommodation.
