The Dominican Convent , Falls Road
The convent was built to provide accommodation for sisters of the Dominican order who were asked by the Bishop of Down and Connor to open a school for Catholic girls from the Falls area. This school became the St Dominic's Grammar School for Girls which stands next to the convent and which has a catchment area covering the wider Belfast area. Today, the convent is a community of only 13 nuns, who no longer have an active teaching role at the school, but retain trusteeship over the conduct of the school.
