DH and MPD's, Antrim
In the days before the building of the cross-harbour line J3474 : Belfast Cross Harbour Links from Central to Yorkgate, all transfers of rolling stock, based at Central Service Depot, Belfast J3574 : Bridge End station and service depot , Belfast, going to York Road workshops had to make the long journey via Lisburn, Antrim and Bleach Green (some 45 miles instead of the two by the cross-harbour line). In this cast DH locomotive no 3 is transferring MPD power cars nos 64 and 65, DE motor coach 77 and intermediate no 727.
"DH" locomotives, Northern Ireland Railways
A class of three diesel-hydraulic six-coupled locomotives introduced by NIR in 1969 built by English Electric/AEI with a 620hp Dorman engine. They were mainly used for permanent way trains and shunting and were withdrawn between 1986 and 1989. This link Linkhas more information about their life after withdrawal.
