The CIE weed sprayer on Northern Ireland Railways
Some photographs showing the CIE weed-spraying train on Northern Ireland Railways. NIR was too small to have its own dedicated train. The practice was to hire CIE’s – usually in June.
Kingsbog Jct level crossing near Ballyclare
A level crossing taking the Belfast – Londonderry/Portrush railway across the road from Corr’s Corner to Ballyclare. Now automatic half barriers remotely monitored, the crossing originally had gates operated manually by the signalman in Kingsbog Jct signal cabin. It was also the junction for the standard gauge line to Ballyclare (1884/1950).
