Castles of Munster: Kilmaclenine, Cork
Castles of Munster: Kilmaclenine, Cork
On a ridge is a roughly rectangular court with fragments of a low wall. It may be C13 in date, and contains no internal structures, and may simply have been built as a refuge for the tenants of the bishops of Cloyne. To the NE of the nearby farmhouse is a stronghouse built by the Barrys in the 1630s.
