Clonydonnin block post is a passing loop on the single line between Portarlington and Athlone. Approximately half way between Clara and Athlone, it opened in 1974. The train is the 11.10 Dublin Heuston – Galway (hauled by 078) which had crossed the 11.30 Galway – Dublin (072).
