V9419 : Blananarragaun Point

taken 34 years ago, 10 km SW of Harboursmouth, Sherkin, Co Cork, Ireland

Blananarragaun Point
Blananarragaun Point
The razor-sharp rocks at Blananarragaun make the scramble out to the seawatch point a treacherous undertaking in wet conditions. This sea arch is passed along the route and on this windy, clear and sunny day the Fastnet Rock is just discernible on the horizon. During my week at the Cape Clear Bird Observatory I visited 'Blanan' regularly and in addition to the seabirds I was fortunate to see Fin Whales and Leatherback Turtles.
