The view, from Knockagh, towards Carrickfergus before the zoom lens became common. Carrick had yet to start its outward expansion along the Belfast Road. The Courtaulds factory J3987 : Former Courtaulds factory, Carrickfergus (upper right) was still trading and emitting a light smoke (the smell from which was notable). Kilroot power station J4388 : Kilroot power station, Carrickfergus (2) (middle top) had still to start generating and acquire its mound of fly ash. J4187 : Carrickfergus from Knockagh (2012) shows approximately the same view in September 2012.
