Cotoneaster berries, Belfast
The red berries of the aptly-named hollyberry cotoneaster Link
on the Comber Greenway, between the North Road and the Beersbridge Road. Not strictly a “wild” plant but one which is often found outside gardens. Opinions vary about the berries but the general view seems to be that they are mildly toxic.
Wild berries, Northern Ireland
A selection of photographs showing some of the berries to be found on plants and hedges in Northern Ireland. Many are poisonous and should not be eaten. If in doubt – don’t.
