New mouth of the River Cuckmere
New mouth of the River Cuckmere
This photo is taken from the beach near the mouth of the River Cuckmere at Cuckmere Haven. It shows the wooden revetments and training walls that helped to keep the river in a fixed course and allowed it to flow straight to the sea. However, at the end of the first week in April 2014, the river mouth shifted abruptly westwards as the river found a new point of entry into the English Channel.
