C0030 : Flattened Pebbles

Flattened Pebbles
Flattened Pebbles
If you look closely just to the right of the GPS, you will see pale roundish shapes in the face of the rock. Then look further to the right, and you will see that the pale shapes on that face are elongated. These are pebbles that were deposited in the sand that formed this rock. Tectonic movements resulted in the rock being squashed, and the direction of elongation of the slightly flattened pebbles tells geologists the direction of the pressure.
