G5788 : Navelwort (Umbilicus rupestris)

taken 10 years ago, 4 km NE of Kilgoly, Co Donegal, Ireland

Navelwort (Umbilicus rupestris)
Navelwort (Umbilicus rupestris)
I was sure this was Navelwort, but another member of the party, far more knowledgeable than I am, said it was Wall Pennywort. Imagine my delight on consulting the book and finding out that these are alternative names for the same plant. The name derives from the navel-like dimple in the middle of the leaf. It is much commoner in Ireland than in Britain.
