Skye claims to host "the world's largest scarecrow trail", originating in the Minginish parish in the south-west, it has now expanded throughout the island. This manifestation, more permanent than most of the exhibits, is a scarecrow-inspired bench outside the Minginish Community Hall.
Minginish Tattie Bogal

Tattie Bogal is the Minginish Scarecrow Festival - a community event which gained some funding from Awards for All. A trail of ingenious Tatties is delighting visitors to the Minginish district of Skye this summer, as dozens of them are displayed outside homes and businesses along the roadside from Drynoch through Carbost and Portnalong. Every one has to be wearing some tartan. The tatties include a doctor (outside Carbost Medical Centre) a police officer (hiding behind a speed limit sign) a peg-legged pirate (outside the Old Inn Pub) and many others. This photo collection records just a few of the Tattie Bogal characters that I found particularly alluring.
