SP5664 : Waiting for a nibble

taken 9 years ago, near to Welton, West Northamptonshire, England

Waiting for a nibble
Waiting for a nibble
One of several fishermen who were encamped on their pitches at Drayton Reservoir, waiting for a nibble. In the 15 minutes I was there, none was successful. Yet the record daily catch exceeds 700 lbs, predominantly carp.

The reservoir was built in 1804 for the Grand Junction Canal Company. Its surface area is 27 acres and it has a capacity of 81 million gallons.
