SN7787 : Eastern shore of Nant-y-moch reservoir
taken 9 years ago, near to Bryn y Beddau [other Features], Ceredigion, Great Britain
Eastern shore of Nant-y-moch reservoir
Looking at the northeastern tip of the reservoir, where the Afon Llechwedd-mawr (ahead) and the Afon Rheidol (right) meet. The little islet (spot height 344m shown on the 1:25k map) seems to be a peninsula at the present water level. The small clump of trees that can be seen beside the stream merging from the left marks the ruins of Drosgol farmhouse

Built from 1957 to 1961, Nant-y-moch regulates the flow of water in the Rheidol hydro-electric scheme. The dam is 52m tall and the storage capacity is 26 million cubic metres
Link . The reservoir isn't usually used to supply drinking water, although temporary use for this purpose during severe droughts has been envisaged
