Trees being replaced along High Street, Omagh
Nineteen ash trees planted in 2006 which are suffering from Die Black disease and causing dead branches to fall onto pavements are being systematically removed as care has to be given to existing services. They are being replaced with Carpinus Berulus Pastiglata (hornbeam) which is a tree suitable for urban planting at a cost of £3,800 by the new Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. The new trees are densely branched and produce leaves earlier and change colour in autumn.
