This ancient monastic settlement consists of a round tower, a church, and a holy well. In the mid-C16 the Comerfords converted the chancel of the C12 church into a three storey stronghouse, with doorways on the south and west, and a main entrance in the north wall. From there a straight staircase rises up to the second and third storeys, where at the third storey level there are two light windows, and a fine fireplace. There is also a theory that the round tower in the graveyard (of which just the lower part survives), may have been deliberately cut down to be used as a bawn corner flanker.
