Erosion on The Murrough
Erosion on The Murrough
The beach has been protected by boulders from this point all the way to Wicklow harbour (seen in the distance). Where the boulders stop, the sea has nibbled away the land. The Murrough is a 15 km long coastal wetland area, extending north of as far as Wicklow Town as far as Greystones. It is the largest coastal wetland complex on the East coast of Ireland and is a magnificent wildlife haven and an outstanding area of natural heritage.
