Ground floor of the ffrench Mausoleum, Monivea, County Galway
A life-size cararra marble effigy of Robert Percy ffrench lying in state, by the Italian sculptor Francesco Jerace. The stained glass windows behind and in other locations within the building were manufactured by the German company, Mayer of Munich. For a short video tour of the mausoleum, click this weblink: LinkExternal link The book "An Irishwoman in Czarist Russia" by Jean Lombard provides a detailed account of the ffrench family. This mausoleum was extremely expensive to build and furnish and clearly reflects the devotion of a daughter to her father.
