The River Liffey, Dublin (July 1993)
The River Liffey, Dublin (July 1993)
The view, upstream, from the East Link Bridge, long before the massive rebuilding of Dublin had started (or had even been conceived).
The quays on the northern side of the Liffey (right) contained a mixture of wholesalers, derelict buildings and “rough” bars. The ground tended to shake under the constant passing of numerous lorries to and from the docks (before the tunnel).
It was all a very long way from the period and atmospheric background scenes in Milo O’Shea’s “Ulysses” or Rita Tushingham’s “The Girl with Green Eyes”.
