Pillbox (type FW3/22)

A pair of Turnbull machine gun mountings still attached to their embrasures. Of the 20 or so pillboxes still extant at Worthy Down, most if not all were provided with the metal frames for Turnbull mountings, but rarely do they survive complete like these. There are altogether three Turnbull mountings, two of which are seen here, the other is behind the photographer fitted to the embrasure over the entrance. There are also the remains of wooden shelf supports below them.
