To celebrate the Bank's rugby club centenary season a match was staged between the President's International XV and a select team from the bank's own sides.
Such was the command of the Bank in those days the International XV members and who were in red shirts, were as follows:- Andy Irvine, 15, Clive Rees, 14, Ray Gravell, 13, Mike Gibson, 12, Simon Smith, 11, Huw Davies, 10, Nigel Melville, 9, Iain Milne, 1, Peter Wheeler, 2, Paul Rendall, 3, Andy Ripley, 4, Maurice Colclough, 5, John Taylor, 6, Tony Neary, 7, Roger Uttley, 8, Tony Jorden, 16, Richard Cardus, 17, Steve Smith, 18, Ken Kennedy, 19, Chris Ralston, 20, Peter Dixon,21.
Amongst the Bank's XV at 11 was Mike Harrison who worked for the Bank but who went to greater heights in the rugby world
Link as captain of England.
Equally the international influence continued as the referee was Tony Trigg, touch judges Nigel Starmer-Smith and John Gasson. Commentators were Peter Yarranton and Ian Robertson.
Nat West played in the blue hooped shirts.
From my note at the time at 2 for NatWest was Bob Gardner, 4 was Chris Bird, 19 was Peter Baldacci, 20 was Graham Cheshire, 7 was Colin Whitford and at 18 Clem McHugh.
