NS4864 : Paisley Town Hall
taken 7 years ago, near to Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland
Paisley Town Hall
The Town Hall is seen here across Gauze Street, which doubles as a central transport hub as many bus routes interconnect here. The town hall is a rather grand building given the size of the town and was opened in 1882, following a bequest by George A Clark, one of the town's textile mill owners. The textile industry was the major industry of Paisley in the 19th century and into the 20th.
Paisley doesn't have a town council any more but is split into the three community council areas of Paisley West&Central, Paisley North, and Paisley East & Whitehaugh, with the majority of local government functions covered by the wider Renfrewshire Council. The Town Hall is now used as a venue for music events, conferences and weddings.
