In an area that has quite a number of unique defensive structures, this one surely must rank among them as perhaps one of the more unusual. It's certainly a section post, made of reinforced concrete and brick, and has room for a 'section' of at least 8 - 10 men, although this is not apparent in this view of the south side. It was built to cover the former Southern Railway line from London to the South, whose modern equivalent is just yards away to the right beyond the green fencing.
