For ten years or so, the tethered balloon was a familiar sight in Bournemouth's Lower Gardens - either as the large balloon looming large as one walked past, or as a blob in the sky from many miles around.
It was removed in the early summer of 2016 and there was talk that it was perhaps temporary, but it is indeed not coming back. Here, we look across the Gardens from Gervis Place, past the former base of the balloon.
The lawn has been reinstated over the plot, across the stream from here, in the last week or so, and for now the circular area can just be made out. It will soon enough be indiscernible.
Meanwhile, while one landmark goes another arrives - in the background is the new West Central cinema and restaurant complex, which opened in February 2017.
