Lough Mask viewed from Mount Gable (Benn Levy)
Atop Mount Gable at circa 390 metres, a panoramic view of Lough Mask in sunshine is observed. Lough Mask is the sixth largest lake in Ireland (fourth largest in the Republic). It has the greatest mean depth of the large Irish lakes and ties with lower Lough Erne in having the second largest volume of water (after Lough Neagh). It is the middle of three interlinked waterbodies (Lough Carra, Lough Mask, Lough Corrib) whose water eventually flows into Galway Bay via the River Corrib at Galway City.
