Templecranny Graveyard from the drive of Ballyphilip CoI Parish Church
This round shaped enclosure, typical of religious settlements in the Celtic countries, was the site of a medieval church. In the post reformation period the church was taken over by Presbyterian settlers and many of the surviving tombstones in the graveyard record the burial sites of Scottish planters. In 1662 the church was sequestrated by the Anglicans and remained their place of worship until a new parish church, St James, Ballyphilip, was built across the road in the 1780s.
