Inside one of the buildings near the entrance to the fort.
Lenan Fort was a British Army coastal defence battery, built in 1902. There are three semi-circular concrete gun emplacements with sloping concrete glacis sunk into a cliff edge covering Lough Swilly. There are associated magazines, stores, barracks and guard houses. The land border of the fort is a deep ditch cut into the rock. The fort was abandoned in 1952. Listed, with much detail and history at: LinkExternal link and LinkExternal link
